Bali is amazing on several fronts.\u00a0\u00a0The quality and craftsmanship of their arts and furniture and batik is extraordinary. Old wooded hand carved furniture is a mix of sculpture, spirit, and SE Asian design rolled into one. There are\u00a0long beaches, terraced rice fields, jungle, active volcano, wonderful food. \u00a0I can see why this place has that mystical ring just in saying the name.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_inside_house500.jpg\" title=\"Inside Bali House\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_inside_house500.jpg\" alt=\"Inside Bali House\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can get lost in the tourist shops on the main streets.\u00a0\u00a0The surfers and Aussies are all a little too much, but turn left, and you are in a surreal landscape temple.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all Hindu here, with a pool filled with lotus flowers and vine covered walls with statues of gods and this little cafe over looking all this with really beautiful and tasty food.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/blai_hindu_temple500.jpg\" title=\"Bali Hindu Temple\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/blai_hindu_temple500.jpg\" alt=\"Bali Hindu Temple\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_lotus_temple500.jpg\" title=\"Bali Lotus Temple\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_lotus_temple500.jpg\" alt=\"Bali Lotus Temple\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This sounds like\u00a0tourist brochure words, but this place has captured me.\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s off season right now, maybe too hot, and some of the beaches were closed to rip tides.\u00a0\u00a0Many of the villas and hotels were empty. But the gamelan music\u00a0was every where, with fresh wild looking\u00a0fruit and flowers.\u00a0 I am coming back to this place.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_dancers500.jpg\" title=\"Bali Dancers\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_dancers500.jpg\" alt=\"Bali Dancers\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I may buy a\u00a0container of large stone carved Buddha heads, 5 feet tall, and sell them to pay for another trip back to Bali. This is an eyes wide-open dream.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_stone_statue_worker500.jpg\" title=\"Bali Stone Worker\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.odegardletters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/bali_stone_statue_worker500.jpg\" alt=\"Bali Stone Worker\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back to Bangkok and work, got to get this exhibit farther along, feeling some pressure to get it right, but it is coming along.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brother Mark<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brothers, These adventures keep getting deeper.
